|
|
There are three essential resources and tools that will make your requesting freebies faster and more efficient. Follow these simple steps and you will be on your way to the wonderful world of freebies and have your mail box overflowing in no time.
Warning: Following these instructions may cause you to feel the need to purchase a larger mail box to hold all of your stuff! That isn’t free and I haven’t found an offer for a free mail box yet, so you’ve been warned…lol!
First: Get an Email Address Just for Freebies.
Free email services are nothing new but it’s a good idea to get a separate account just for your freebies. Free email addresses are available through Gmail, Yahoo!, Hotmail, IncrediMail, in addition to the many other smaller players. Always use this email address when completing forms for free offers.
Here are links to some of the free email service providers:
Yahoo! Email: http://www.yahoo.com
Hotmail: http://www.hotmail.com
Google GMail: http://www.gmail.com
Second: Get a Free Phone Number & Voice Mail.
You don’t want to start getting unsolicited phone calls to your personal numbers from signing up for freebies, but some offers do require you to list your phone number. Forget about the “Rejection Hotline” and all the other fake numbers you have heard about using. This is the real thing and you’re going to love using it.
Get a Free Phone Number and Voice Mail at GrandCentral and you’ll be able to personalize your voicemail greetings, hear voicemails online or from your phones and receive voicemail notifications via email or SMS. GrandCentral is currently inviting a limited number of users to beta test their service and you can sign up for an invitation here:
http://www.grandcentral.com/home/reserve
IMPORTANT TIP!!!
After you have activated your GrandCentral account, be sure to go to the “Settings Tab” and uncheck all the boxes to the right of “All Callers” and right under the “Home, Cell and Work Telephone Numbers” to enable your voicemail message to automatically pick up when someone calls your GrandCentral Number. Otherwise, they will get the recorded GrandCentral computer message first with your recorded name, and then it will try calling all the numbers you have checked, trying to reach you before it will go to your recorded voicemail message.
To find out more about GrandCentral, you can review this GrandCentral DEMO Fall 2006 at YouTube:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rd5gHKU-qnQ
Third: Use RoboForm to Enter Information.
Forms will usually ask for your name, address, telephone number and email address along with other personal information such as your date of birth. Some will also want you to sign up with them to receive newsletters or other future promotions and request a user name and password. It gets repetitive to enter the same information for different freebies not to mention time consuming. RoboForm completely automates password entering and form filling so that you don’t have to, and does not contain any adware or spyware. Using it, I can very often spend just 5 or 10 seconds on a freebie page, and the next thing I know, it’s "in the mail". I have it set to automatically fill out my name, address, phone number, freebie email address, date of birth, user name and password.
RoboForm was named PC Magazine “Editor's Choice” and CNET Download.com's “Software of the Year” and is the top-rated Password Manager and Web Form Filler you can find. You can download the Free version of RoboForm or purchase the professional version, which offers more features such as unlimited passcards, free updates, toll-free technical support and more.
Download Free RoboForm or purchase RoboForm Pro here:
http://www.roboform.com/php/land.php?affid=mdg55
Some Final Notes:
Never, ever, ever, say you heard about a free offer from a freebie site. Tell them a friend told you, or you did a search, something.
Free offers sometimes go quick so when you find an offer, don’t procrastinate! Sign up for it right away. Check our “Forum” frequently to take advantage of the great offers posted there.
And last, but not least, don’t forget to share what you find with us too! Come on over to the forum and register with us there and become a part of our little community. We would love to have you join us and look forward to posting with all of you
I personally check out each and every offer before I list it on our site to make sure the link is working properly, the offer is 100% Free, and the offer is not a hassle to sign up for. I follow the offer through to the very end. Then I just wait for it to come to me I have no control over when an offer may expire, change or start charging a fee, so please let me know if you come across one of these offers that have changed, and I will remove or note the change accordingly.
I guess that’s it. If I think of something else, I’ll add it or let you know.
Happy freebie hunting!

Great info! I wish I would have had it yesterday! lol I tried to find one of those free number sites. But, the one I found had just been taken over by Google so I couldn't sign up then. So, I ended up giving out my real number(like an idiot!) & needless to say, my phone hasn't stopped ringing since then!!! For some reason, the Privatephone page won't load up for me. I guess there's some sort of control or something that my computer is having trouble with. Anybody know what the problem is and/or how to fix it?
Thanks again guys!!!
**I guess it was a quicktime issue. I have an online number now. YEA!!!

| It loaded right up for me. Try to copy and paste the URL into your browser and see if that will work. |

Bonniesboy, sometimes I have trouble with the PrivatePhone site too. Usually I have to reload it once or twice to get it to work. But it's worth it - I LOVE my PrivatePhone number!
Also, just so everyone knows, the Yahoo mail storage is now unlimited, and Gmail is at something like 2600 MB and counting. I don't know about Hotmail.
Thanks for the great info Marilyn! |

Hi Marilyn,
Since privatephone is ending, maybe you can change the phone number info to Grand Central? |

I haven't had a chance to rewrite my article, but here is the information on the new Free Phone and Voicemail you can use. If you need an invite, just go to our Freebies Forum and sign up here:
http://www.twistedbranches.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=16742
| Quote: | Free Private Phone Number and Voicemail by NetZero will be ending on December 15, 2007.
Due to the discontinuance of this service, Twisted Branches is suggesting members and other freebie lovers consider joining GrandCentral for their Free Private Phone Number and Voicemail service.
GrandCentral is currently a private beta service, which means you must receive an invite from GrandCentral or a GrandCentral user to sign up. In order to sign up for the service you must be invited by an existing member. New users will have to request an invite from GrandCentral's web site, or be invited by an existing member. Existing members can invite up to 10 friends to join.
While GrandCentral is still in the process of fixing small bugs and glitches, they're giving you the following services, at no cost. Here's what you've got to play with:
Unlimited inbound minutes
Unlimited voicemail
$3 credit for click-to-call
All premium features, including call record
IMPORTANT TIP!!!
After you have activated your GrandCentral account, be sure to go to the “Settings Tab” and uncheck all the boxes to the right of “All Callers” and right under the “Home, Cell and Work Telephone Numbers” to enable your voicemail message to automatically pick up when someone calls your GrandCentral Number. Otherwise, they will get the recorded GrandCentral computer message first with your recorded name, and then it will try calling all the numbers you have checked, trying to reach you before it will go to your recorded voicemail message.
GrandCentral will allow you to invite up to ten friends while the beta is invitation only. We would greatly appreciate members offering their invites to other members of our community by posting in this forum. Members who would like to receive an invite should reply by PM (private message) and send their first and last name along with their email address. Do not leave your personal information on the forum for your own protection, and once invites are gone, please edit post to reflect that information and prevent the sending and receiving of unnecessary PM’s.
To find out more about GrandCentral, you can review this GrandCentral DEMO Fall 2006 at YouTube:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rd5gHKU-qnQ
To request Google reserve a number for GrandCentral for you when it becomes publicly available, click on this link:
http://www.grandcentral.com/
Good luck everyone, and I’ll start us off with my ten invites going out to the first ten people to PM me with their first and last name and email address.
Have fun!
